Do you care about your community? Have you been considering volunteering for a long time but don't what would work for you? The Parkallen Executive board has many flexible positions to suit everyone and anyone! You can read below to check out the positions that need filling. Please contact Tanya if you are interested.

PRESIDENT:

Responsibilities include:

  • Preside at all meetings of the members and executive committee.

  • General management and supervision of affairs and operation of the League;

  • Shall sign, with the secretary, all resolutions;

  • Shall, with the secretary and treasurer, be one of the signing officers for the League bank accounts;

  • Shall sign all contracts, reports and documents on behalf of the League;

  • Shall serve as the League representative to the Central Area Council and the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues;

  • Deal with problems/concerns/complaints of residents as they emerge.

Estimate of time required: 20 hours per month.

VICE PRESIDENT:

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist the president wherever possible;

  • Attend all League meetings;

  • In the president's absence, perform the presidential duties;

  • Do the duties of a vacant executive position (optional).

Estimate of time required: 8 hours per month.

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR:

Responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with Social Events, Communications and Membership Leads

  • Maintain Volunteer Mailing List

  • Send out requests for volunteers & other updates

  • Provide volunteers with role details (description, shift time, contact for event)
    Attend most monthly league meetings and present update on activities

  • Estimate of time required: 3-10 hours per month depending on events occurring.

RINK MANAGER:

Responsibilities include:

  • Recruit rink staff to operate the rink shack;

  • Organize and perform the hiring process and oversee payroll;

  • Schedule community skates;

  • Organize and prepare for special events,

  • Maintain operational rink shack throughout the year

  • Maintain the 3 ice/snow machines owned by Parkallen; Ice-making starting in mid-November and ice maintenance throughout the season (snow blowing, sweeping, flooding);

  • Close and open the rink

  • Maintain a safe and appropriate atmosphere throughout the season.

Estimate of time required: 8 hours per month from October until April.

SOCIAL MEDIA COORDINATOR:

Responsibilities include:

  • posting regularly to the Parkallen Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts

  • reporting to and working alongside the Communications Director and Communications team

  • adhering to social media policies and best practices

  • using Hootsuite to schedule content about upcoming events and campaigns

  • managing a social media content calendar

  • monitoring Parkallen’s social media accounts to discover possible content, engage with existing followers, and attract new followers

  • foster relationships with other related organizations on social media (eg. neighbourhood businesses, City of Edmonton departments, EFCL, and other community leagues)

  • research relevant social media hashtags

  • coordinate with other Parkallen volunteers to share information with the community
    create simple graphics for posts as needed

Estimate of time required: 10 hours per month.

GRAPHICS / LAYOUT ARTIST:

Responsibilities include:

  • working with the newsletter editor to layout a seasonal newsletter, including placing ads and designing content

  • create posters, flyers, and invitations for league events

  • create social media and website graphics as required
